153. Very sad story and I have no desire to condemn Kevin, especially since he is dead. But, JRD, don't think you can just dismiss as "miscalculation." Anytime you use cocaine you are risking your life - just for your own info. Sounds like you are justifying your own use.

158. Dubrow refused to participate in a Randy Rhodes tribute movie being produced by one of Rhode's former students. Rhodes family was involved, his brother writing music for it. Quiet Riot's bass player was producing it and Dubrow had agreed to participate, then backed out, saying it was being done to make money and would exploit Rhodes memory. This happened in may of this year.

No one did more to exploit Rhode's memory for profit than Kevin Dubrow!

Randy Rhodes stated in a Guitar Player interview that the first 2 Quiet Riot lp's, released only in Japan, weren't very good, that band would never have made it big, and he didn't want fans trying to get copies of them.

So what does Dubrow do after his career tanked? He produces "Quiet Riot: The Randy Rhodes Years" cd. To add insult to injury, he has other guitarists come in and overdub parts on the unfinished songs. The only person this benefited was Kevin Dubrow. The CD was panned and flopped but for one live song that contained an unedited RR extended guitar solo.

Kevin Dubrow a Metal God? More like a one hit wonder. And just another embarrassing drug death.

160. I heard alot of you talking about his death not being an accident, that he knew what he was doing, SO what are you saying? He was trying to kill himself? I don't think he was trying to kill himself at all,I Hate Stupid People, there everywhere. That's what is wrong with the world today! There's alot of people who do dope, JUST TO COPE! This world is sooo F@#$%D up. It's hard to keep your nose clean living in sin. If the goverment would spend as much time helping drug addicts with rehab as they are with putting them into prison, maybe we could take a few steps forward. I know that rehab doesn't help everyone,but it is sure better than sending drug heads to prison so easily. I guess prison business is big money business... P.S. I Hate Stupid People.

161. I remember going over to Kevin Dubrow's apartment in the early 80's with a friend of mine at the time and he was doing and selling cocaine then! And where did it get him? Six feet under, that's where! Some people do it and grow out of it, and some people don't. Very sad.

163. I think that the Coke was mixed with something, maybe Heroin? If your used to doing one, and alot of it. you get something stronger added to it, you could overdose.

Recall the college basketball hero Len Bias dying on the eve of his being drafted to the Boston Celtics. Andy Gibb of the super pop group The BeeGees died of "furry arteries" clogged with the scarring caused by heavy coke abuse. Heck, the director of the movie 'BLOW', starring Johnny Depp, died while playing a benefit basketball game!

Coke is a major stressor to the human system, causing incredible blood pressure surges, zany irregular heartbeat, and dangerously high body temperature. System failure generally involves stroke or heart attack.

Interestingly, after a prolonged period of abstinence from coke, the body becomes super sensitized. It is then most dangerous to revisit cocaine intoxication, even in the slightest degree. Evidence Mr Rick James of 'SuperFreak' fame, who, after cleaning up in prison for a few years, chose to have one more go with 'Sister Snow' for old times sake.

No other drug has as unpredictable a lethal dose as cocaine, none, hands down. Monsieur DuBrow's demise is a bell chime to warn all baby boomer rockers to chill. Decide to move forward into sober adulthood and take the courageous steps that lead to new avenues of expression. Tell you what, Kevin's death has probably saved my own life from repeating his mistake. Thank You Kev!
