4. Are there no original ideas in Hollywood anymore? All we get, is remakes of old TV shows, sequels, remakes of movies already done......comic books made into movies....etc......somebody do something original!

Knowing how the stupid studio suits in hollywood think, they'll probably stick the latest "flavor of the month" actor into a role like this; they'll replace Tom Selleck with someone like Ben Affleck. What these idiots obviously haven't grasped is, the series worked really well for 2 reasons: the relationship between the actors who played the roles, and Tom Selleck's charisma. With the actors playing so well off each other & Tom Selleck so charismatic in the lead role, the series was a classic; very watchable & fun. Without them, it was just an ok series. The movie will bomb without him...

8. Enough of the remakes already---STOP PLEASE!!! However--Brad from comment number 6 is right and whenever possible use the original actor. Magnum is Tom Selleck not Ben Affleck--yuck. I wouldn't mind though if they wanted to continue the story & retain the original cast & maybe use Ben as an extra in a crowd scene.

Magnum PI was a great show. Tom has enough money to put together a project by himself.

Can't imagine other actors doing it - what a shame that would be.

Everyone is alive from the show except Ice Pick - luved that guy too.

So many people would flock to see a funny gritty Magnum movie........Ivan the arch enemy could still be alive.........can't believe there aren't any creative Magnum PI writer/fans who can come up with a script.

I agree....Tom has to do something with that moustache - it is styled so wrong..........

But what is this about Ben Affleck as the reincarnation of Magnum? Whaaaaaat? Almost anyone in Hollywood, male, female, or Ryan Phillipe is better qualified to play Thomas Magnum.

12. Ben Afflek might make a good Rick, but not Magnum. Tom Selleck was on latenight the other night saying that he would not do a cameo on a campy movie of magnum PI. I think that if they made it dark and serious like the Miami Vice movie or the Bourne Identity trilogy, or the latest Bond movie it would do much better than trying to make it campy and a spoof like the Brady Bunch movies. I would certainly go see it as a real action movie. While they are at it, a movie version of Hawaii 5 O would be nice too.

15. THEY BETTER CALL! My one and only personal blog was of the email I sent to the writer & director for the Magnum movie pleading with him to use the original cast!

If Harrison Ford can still play Indiana Jones (a role that Selleck had originally been offered, but he refused b/c of that baseball movie (oops!)), then there's no reason why everyone in the original cast couldn't resume their roles. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing Ben Affleck or anyone else play Magnum. The producers should know better after one eighties' TV show that's turned into a movie after another fails to entertain. S.W.A.T. was terrible. Miami Vice wasn't nearly as cool as the TV show, etc...
